Essay / that magical moment, a moment that leaves you in awe and indescribable feelings. A few seconds where your heart beats faster and faster and nothing stops the excitement, the happiness, the butterflies. Sounds like it's just taken from a love song, right? The truth is that love songs influence young culture on how love should feel and create this stereotype that love is nothing but a moment filled with passion and desires. But the reality is that this is not always the case and these songs put up unrealistic measures such as a moment of passion or falling in love solely on the basis of physical attraction; and if you don't reach that moment or are not attracted to that moment, then you are not in love. There is no exact dictionary definition of love because it varies from person to person and each person has their own definition; but many people would agree that love is essential in a relationship and is an important element. For example, for a person, love may be someone who makes them feel comfortable or safe by having the same level of education, culture, or religion as them. These love songs, on the other hand, promote "puppy love" filled with lust and a stress-free environment, which is obviously not realistic in a relationship. I chose three songs by Taylor Swift, genre: country/pop, multi-platinum and certified award-winning artist. “Today Was a Fairy Tale,” illustrates a perfect date and shows young love; "Crazier", describes a girl's feelings towards a man and how he inspires her to be herself; "The way I loved you", the girl remembers the time when the relationship had problems but it seemed "real" to her now everything for her is "perfect" and misses the dysfunctional component of the relationship. .... middle of paper ... true when in reality this love is not achievable. These songs don't describe love, they describe a moment and feelings of attraction that have been over-hyped to make easy money by targeting young girls to believe in this clearly unbelievable frenzy. However, "The Way I Loved You" is realistic and shows that there will always be problems in a relationship. Once everything seems too “perfect”, the relationship has no will to overcome obstacles and it just doesn’t seem real. This song influences girls in the right way by displaying the truth elements of a relationship, such as identifying whether one likes the other person, the other person's personality and attitude. Not just their physical appearance, which is only a minor element of a relationship consisting of two human beings with their own complex ideals and beliefs..
