    Started from the bottom “All men are created equal”. It is the foundation of the American dream (Jefferson). America's forefathers believed that all men had equal rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This appealed to those who needed a fresh start or simply wanted a better life. This ideal has become synonymous with 20th century America, as America prides itself on being a land of opportunity. Many people from all over the world come to live in America because they yearn for opportunity and freedom. Since the founding of the United States of America, the American dream has been advertised. In the last century, the American dream was made public by the Roaring Twenties and post-World War II. The American Dream once meant that every man had equal rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but it now morphs into "Any man can come into America with nothing and come out rich because of hard work and dedication. » took this dream to heart, making it their lifelong dream to become rich. In the 1920s, the changing American dream began to deteriorate. The dream changed from “life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness” to “anyone can become rich” because America grew as a nation. After World War I, the creation of cars, telephones, movies, and electricity were factors that made America a superpower. The American people started spending more and there was more room for entertainment. The American classic, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is a novel about indulgence and excess wealth in the 1920s. Gatsby, the man whose belief in the American dream was his downfall, lived in a excess wealth...... middle of paper......
