Within the Army, there are soldiers who are either enlisted (NCOs) or commissioned (officers). To become an officer in the Army, one must complete one of four pathways, consisting of completing the Army ROTC course, OCS (Officer Candidate School), United States Military Academy, or by direct commission. Once you become an officer, you would take a position within a combat arms or combat support branch. Combat arms branches include air defense artillery, armor, aviation, field artillery, infantry, special forces, as well as several others. Each branch has a corresponding support branch which also includes military intelligence, military police, signals, chemical, as well as other positions in addition to combat arms. I am interested in air defense, artillery, armor, aviation, field artillery, infantry and chemicals. Each job title requires that an officer be knowledgeable in their field, maintain a sense of self-discipline, and dignity and confidence in the performance of their duties.
