An organization cannot function successfully if the leadership is defective. It is therefore wise for the organization to choose leaders who will be beneficial to its functioning. That said, leaders need to be evaluated consistently while in charge of an operation. In this assignment, the author will study how leadership is formally evaluated in a correctional agency. The management positions that will be the subject of this mission will be those of a director of a correctional establishment. Prison WardenA prison warden governs and supervises the activities of the staff of a correctional facility. They also ensure the security of the establishment, as well as that of the inmates. With the warden being the administrator, they are responsible for developing and implementing prison policies, budgets and programs. They also monitor the success of existing activities and work to find ways to improve them. The prison warden's duties also include making decisions regarding the hiring process, training, promotion, sanctions, evaluation and dismissal of staff. A prison warden also delegates responsibilities to leaders under his or her charge and to monitoring activities for compliance with prison and state regulations. The prison warden also supervises support staff associated with prison programs in education, labor, mental health, and nursing. Additionally, wardens implement administrative operations in a prison, including reviewing budget expenditures to ensure they are meeting their goal. To become a prison warden, the candidate will vary, but will normally need a bachelor's degree in fields ranging from social work. , administration of justice and business.
