PROPOSED CHANGE TO CAMPUS SMOKING POLICYINTRODUCTIONPurposeThis proposal aims to improve the campus environment. Non-smokers don't like the smell of nicotine, so it's their right to have a smoke-free environment where they pay tons of thousands of dollars in tuition every year, every semester in many cases . It is designed to encourage better health for all.ScopeThis report covers policies on our campus. It also compares the policy with policies at other colleges and schools. There are few ways to solve this growing problem and improve the atmosphere around us. BACKGROUND General Information Each year, hundreds of new students are admitted to our campus. We receive the student handbook at the beginning of the year, which includes school policies. The majority of students either don't read the book or read it just for once. We need to start encouraging students to read policies regarding smoking and tobacco use on and around university properties. Most students do not smoke, but the other half of the population has smoking experience. They start smoking from high school.ResearchFor this issue, I decided to talk to some smokers, non-smokers, teachers and nurses. Most of them had the same opinion about smoking on campus. I also used the internet to find policies for our campus and other colleges around us. Some of them had very strict policies regarding smoking and tobacco use on their campuses. When I looked at our campus smoking policy, I found that it had not been updated since 2006. It takes a long time to overlook an issue of this level. our green campus. I also came across the issue of cigarette... middle of paper ...... parking spaces designated for smokers, away from campus buildings. They can smoke there at any time without endangering the health of others. As previously proposed, we can establish “Smoking Cabins” at the end of the parking lot.7. We can recommend students to use electronic cigarettes instead of traditional cigarettes.8. Like many major universities across the country, we can completely ban smoking on campus. This proposal is the least likely to pass, but as a non-smoker, it is the best way to make our campus environment fresh and clean. CONCLUSIONAs a non-smoker, this issue is very serious for us. We absolutely must respect smokers' choice to smoke, but they must also respect ours. Few people like the smell or burn of nicotine. These proposals can definitely help clean up our community and provide a better environment for future generations..
