Essay / Factors Contributing to the Death of Romeo and Juliet
Among the many factors contributing to the death of Romeo and Juliet, such as the major feud between the Capulets and the Montagues, there was one person in particular who played the greatest role of all in the tragic consequences of Romeo and Juliet, Friar Laurence. Friar Laurence is definitely responsible for Romeo and Juliet's farewells because of his three mistakes; he encouraged Juliet to drink a potion, he left the delivery of an important letter the responsibility of someone else to deliver to Romeo, and Friar Laurence failed to take responsibility for his own actions when Juliet was left alone at the tomb. . These events eventually led Romeo to commit suicide because he thought Juliet was dead, when in reality she was only faking death. Then, Juliet woke up from her fake death to see that Romeo had actually killed himself, so in return, she killed herself too. Didn't Brother Laurence intentionally intend to bring about such extreme consequences? Or was this an intentional master plan to kill Romeo and Juliet? Whatever his true motivations, he was still responsible for staff suicides....
