Essay / Examples of Cyberspace Warfare - 2067
Examples of Cyberspace Warfare There are different types of wars fought in cyberspace, from information warfare to missile activation in cyberspace. The methods used in cyberwarfare are not a new form of warfare seen in the 21st century, but a method of strategic warfare waged in cyberspace with the advancement and development of telecommunications and satellite navigation technology. The idea of organizing into networks and gathering information to attack may come from ancient military dynasties. According to Arquilla and Ronfeldt1, the ancient military force of the Mongols in 1241 fought according to the principles of cyberwarfare. The idea was to have absolute control of information on the battlefield, "they fought as organized networks rather than as a hierarchy". Arquilla and Ronfeldt1 also argue that the war adopted by the combined forces of North Vietnam and the Viet Cong that defeated the modern superpower of the United States of America was due to their functioning as networks rather than as an institution. World War II and the use of the enigmatic machine to intercept and crack codes are examples of war in cyberspace, the Cold War fought by the allies against the communist regime was a war without a physical battlefield but a war of control of information and manipulation for propaganda purposes. The term "war" does not necessarily imply that war is physical war in cyberspace, because cyberspace is a virtual space, it is not tangible and the method of war is therefore not conventional for battles fought with soldiers and tanks. To simplify even further, we can say it is an "information control war" or attack... middle of paper ...... control, communication and intelligence and attempt to locate, read, surprise and deceive the enemy.
