    The war between Iraq and Iran began in 1980 and lasted eight years (3). The invasion of Kuwait began on August 2, 1990. There are reasons and consequences for this invasion which I will discuss in this essay. In 1980, Kuwait, fearing Persian domination in the Gulf region, had no choice but to financially support Iraq. and act as a lifeline for the Iraqi army (3). Kuwait sent medical equipment to injured Iraqi soldiers and food during these eight years (3). At the end of the war between Persia and Iraq, Iraq managed to ensure the security of its country and its pride, but suffered greatly financially and humanly (2). Iraq had a heavy debt and owed almost $37 billion to the Gulf countries in 1990, due to their aid during the Persian-Iraq War (2). Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein called on Gulf countries, particularly the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, to cancel their debt, saying the loans should be seen as a return to safeguarding the Gulf region. Iranian expansionism (2). The Iraqi leader's appeals were in vain since his demands were rejected by the Gulf leaders (2). This resolution led Saddam to threaten Kuwait (2). On August 2, 1990, while all Kuwaiti citizens were asleep, Iraq entered Kuwait and conquered it with one hundred thousand Iraqi soldiers (2). It took only a few hours for Iraqi forces to completely invade Kuwait (2). Troops began camping in all parts of Kuwaiti territory (3). The United States of America repeatedly asked Iraq to leave Kuwait, but it came to nothing (1). There are reasons that led to this terrible action. Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein said excess oil production was one of the reasons for his conquest of Kuwait, which...... middle of paper ......vasion (4). This operation was under the command of General H. Norman Schwarzkopf (4). Thirty-four nations decided to ally themselves with Kuwait in this operation and to provide it with all their assistance (1). The United States waged a massive air war against the Iraqi forces to completely annihilate them (4). He also ordered the tanks to move towards the enemy campsite and force them to surrender (4). Iraqi forces sensed the danger awaiting them and began launching Scud missiles at Israel and Saudi Arabia in an attempt to end the coalition (4). Alliance troops entered Kuwait with American troops and cleared Kuwaiti streets of invaders (4). On February 26, 1991, Kuwait was liberated from the Iraqi invasion (4). The Kuwaiti people were very happy and waved Kuwaiti flags while the coalition troops moved among them. This time was unforgettable for all who witnessed it.
