    The Pentateuch tells the stories of beginnings. It is about the world, humanity and God's promise to the Israelites (Genesis 1-50) ¬. The ancient prophets contain the history of the Israelites. This extends from the death of Moses until the fall of the nation in 587 BC. The Writings are a collection of stories, like the Book of Esther. Many are books of poetry and wisdom (Bible: The Old Testament). Some Christians believe that these later prophets are older than the older prophets.
