Essay / Anabolic Steroids Are Ruining Major League Baseball
Major League Baseball (MLB) has been widely considered America's pastime for a very long time, but is now known as the sport tainted by one thing, steroids anabolics. An anabolic steroid is related to the natural steroid, testosterone. They are able to stimulate the growth of muscle tissue. They generally increase muscle mass and strength. MLB has created some of America's most historic icons, such as Babe Ruth and Ted Williams. Players like them showed us what it means to play baseball the right way. They played with passion, heart, and above all they had fun playing. Today's players in MLB focus far too much on becoming the best player of all time. They see what the greats have done before them and want to match them, so they turn to anabolic steroids. Alex Rodriguez is an example. In 2003, he tested positive for anabolic steroids because he was "naive" and could not handle the pressure of his expectations of being called the best. He felt the pressure of the game and turned to steroids. Anabolic steroids are ruining the game of baseball. They taint records and change things for the worse. So, Government Reform Committee, I have a resolution to correct this policy on steroids, and I know you have the authority to do it because you changed it in 2005. You were established in 2005. 1927 and received the right to investigate the operations of government activities at all levels with the right to determine their economy and efficiency. You have also been charged with serving as the principal investigative committee of the House of Representatives. This means that you have the authority to conduct hearings that are within the jurisdiction of Congress. MLB issues are placed solely under the jurisdiction...... middle of paper...... they are the ones training the most for the upcoming season. I like the idea of HPAC doing the scheduling, and I also like the three ways a test is considered positive. The biggest change that would make players seriously think about taking anabolic steroids is the consequences of taking these drugs. The consequences of taking steroids must be much more serious than they currently are. At the first positive test, I want the player to be suspended for a full season. Hopefully losing a year's worth of salary would prevent them from using steroids again. If there is a second offense, I think the player should be banned for life from MLB. Yes, it's much harsher than current policy, but the player cheated in his profession. They were given another chance and they blew it, so they deserve a lifetime ban..
