Linda Norgrove's Failed Rescue MissionOn Linda Norgrove's 13th night in captivity, the remarkable special operations unit known as "Seal Team Six" led a raid in the Dewegal Valley located in Kunar Providence. of Afghanistan. During the operation, the team immediately came into contact with the enemy in the Taliban-infested valley. Upon contact, Norgrove was able to escape capture. After the battle ended, Norgrove's body was found in a ravine in the fetal position, extremely injured. An analysis of Linda Norgrove's failed rescue mission by Seal Team Six reveals the challenges facing senior leaders: demonstrate tactical patience and trust in our local partners to recover Linda Norgrove, or fight their way through the valley from the Taliban stronghold and reclaim it ourselves forcefully.Dewegal valley is in Chow-kay district which is centrally located in Kunar province. To the east, it borders Pakistan and to the northwest, it joins the Korangal Valley. The region is predominantly Pashton, it has seen many battles and wars dating back to the time of Alexander the Great through the war in Afghanistan against the Soviet Union and up to today's Operation for Lasting Freedom. The people of this region are made up of many tribes, some concerned about the needs of Afghanistan and others who are unwilling to accept change and do everything possible to fight the West. The Chow-kay region and the Dewgal Valley are mainly controlled by many local tribal leaders who all report to Haji Ghulam Ehsan Adil, who is the head of the Kunar provincial council. However, regarding military presence, the local army of the Afghan nation was supported by Bravo Company, 2/3-27 Infantry, 1st Comba Brigade...... middle of paper.. ....es of this operation, the United States and the United Kingdom operated independently to try to understand its rescue mission while Afghan officials and tribal leaders worked alone to try to negotiate. I believe the locals have a deep concrete culture where they are able to communicate with the enemy even if they disagree on some things and agree on many topics, they have been successful in the past in negotiations thanks to this. the concrete culture and history they have together. In conclusion, it takes the willingness to trust our local partners during war and tactical patience to succeed in the mission we are trying to accomplish. This will result in increased trust between our military partners and local leaders. Without this trust and patience, future operations like these could be repeated as they were during this mission..
