Essay / Gangs and Violence in the United States - 812
In the United States today, we face a huge problem that affects society, gangs, and the violence that follows them wherever they go. These days, gangs are not just made up of grown adults, they often attract young teenagers to do the dirty work and add numbers to their territory. Despite laws directly targeting these gangs, they continue to defy the law and wreak havoc on the territory they claim. Gang members have a gang-first mentality and will do anything possible to provide for and protect their comrades. Very rarely will they speak out on their own to help stop some of the petty crimes committed by these savages. Gangs are centered on a certain territory or territory claimed by that gang. When rival gangs enter this territory, anything can happen. More often than not, some sort of violent action will be taken because the gang feels like they are not being respected because this gang member or members are entering the property. There are approximately 30,000 gangs with approximately 1,000,000 members and this number continues to grow. In large cities where gangs are prevalent, it is stated in __ that there are between 1,000 and 1,500 deaths per year and between 10,000 and 12,000 per year in the United States as a whole. Another reason youths are targeted is to do the gang's dirty work, whether it's for a younger member to carry out a hit, rob a rival member or ste...... middle of paper . .....I would think these people would be remorseful for the heinous crimes they commit, but they don't and just move on to the next victim. These people use any type of weapon they can get their hands on. Guns, knives, machetes and anything that can injure and/or kill an individual are part of their arsenal. Street gangs and prison gangs are a real problem and a real burden that haunts not only the United States but also the world. Gang violence is triggered by itself because it is inevitable due to gangs' very low tolerance for disrespect. Many efforts have been made to put an end to the monstrosities caused by the rampaging men and women who intimidate everyone around them. Gang violence affects the entire United States, not just a certain group. Maybe one day there will be a cure for murder and violence, but unfortunately we don't have the solution..
