  • Essay / The Gift - 821

Mysterious cases remain undetected and unsolved all over the world today, leaving behind unsolved cases. However, some police tasks rely on the help of people with gifted abilities or sixth sense to solve these cases as a last resort. People with these gifts were labeled monsters or devil worshipers among witches. But today, paranormal activities are the center of attention all over the world. Sam Raimi brings a psychological thriller to life from a screenplay written by Billy Bob Thornton and Tom Epperson. The police, baffled by a crime committed in a small Georgia town, seek the help of a psychic, Annie Wilson. Annie, played by Cate Blanchett, is more of a therapist than a fortune teller and is the key to The Gift's puzzle. Annie Wilson is a widow of three little boys in the town of Brixton, Georgia. She faces the guilt of having been able to prevent her husband's death following the explosion at the factory where he worked. Annie raises her children thanks to the little social security she receives and the donations she receives from her clients during readings. She faces threats and verbal abuse from Donnie Barksdale (Keanu Reeves) when he discovers that his wife, Valerie (Hilary Swank), is getting information from Annie and she suggests that Valerie leave her abusive husband. Jessica King disappears and there are no leads. Kenneth King and the police ask Annie for help... middle of paper ...... WB's show Dawson Creek gives fans plenty to impress as she strips naked. However, I think the screenwriting could have been a little less vulgar. The plot is a widespread problem of sexual urge in a small town with its twists and turns, particularly the cynical beliefs of JK Simmons and Michael Jeter, who plays the lawyer. The Gift is a very effective example that physics readers encounter when helping the police in their line of work. I don't recommend this movie to everyone because it is rated R with some brief nudity, obscenity, and a few terrifying scenes. However, I recommend it to those who are skeptical because it is based on a story that happened in real life. The gift uses a supernaturalism like mode that requires you to suspend your skepticism and experience the bewilderment and vulnerability that complement insight, as Annie Wilson observes..
