  • Essay / Reflection Paper - 1187

I still like a challenge, though, and I sure got to practice my time management skills. I really appreciated today's question because after class, and even throughout the day, I thought about it. For example, one day during a class we were asked if funeral arrangements had been made for ourselves or for our parents. Later that week, I found myself discussing this topic with my long-term partner and my mother. I recognized that this question is not something to think about temporarily this semester, it is a real situation that will require careful consideration as I will eventually face it. Another question of the day that stood out to us was when we were asked to take care of our business before we died, knowing that we had a short time to live. I remember having to answer this question because it's something I should really think about, a whole course isn't enough. I appreciated that the speaker shared her personal stories and experiences regarding death and dying to also serve as a juxtaposition to course topics. I couldn't help but feel empathy and wonder how the speaker must have felt discussing these topics as they hit close to home. That being said, I also appreciated my classmates' involvement in course discussions. It was interesting to see the different points of view of the students as well as to hear about their life experiences in relation to the weekly program.
