    Throughout Shakespeare's play Hamlet, the main character; Hamlet displays his contemplative side and sexual deviance wrapped up in his enigmatic character which makes for a thought-provoking play with many interesting twists and turns to keep the reader engaged. Hamlet's creative character allows the viewer and the characters in the play to search deeper into the meaning of Hamlet's words in hopes of finding something more about Hamlet than what is seen. As for Hamlet's sexual deviance, his dirty jokes and interest in his mother's sex life are just another loop used by Shakespeare to captivate the reader and slightly disgust them in the story. The philosophical and contemplative side of Hamlet involves the reader in Hamlet's quest to find and accept the whole truth, no matter how hopeless, because of Hamlet's love of questions that cannot be answered with certainty. Hamlet is an extremely contemplative man, whether he decides to end his life or that of his uncle, Hamlet is constantly thinking. One of Hamlet's most famous soliloquies "To be or not to be" demonstrates Hamlet's inability to decide his own destiny. “The phrase: Who would endure the whips and scorns of time” (3.i.72) is a classic example of Hamlet weighing the pros and cons of committing suicide. Here, Hamlet is not only thinking about himself but about the consequences this would have on everyone. Hamlet is fueled by his emotions and comes to the conclusion that if he commits suicide, no one will avenge his father's death. Hamlet also decides that being damned to hell for eternity is not worth it, as evidenced by the phrase (3.i.85.)
