The 1960s are widely remembered as a decade of music, drugs, formalities and, most importantly, fashion. Many people consider the 1960s to be the decade of school, and it is also remembered for a huge amount of crime. The 1960s are often referred to as the “baby boom decade” because of the seventeen million babies born. The 1960s were marked by the following events: gangs, hippies, the decade of civil rights and the Vietnam War. The few things people talk about and remember about the 1960s were the gangs, like the greasers, the clothes, the style, the music and the culture. Many actors and actresses had their best years in the 1960s. If anyone had to remember three main things about the 1960s, it would be the gangs, the style, and the music. In the early 1950s, a new street style was created. This new look was the “fattier” image. Greasers could be seen wearing Chuck Taylors, baggy or wrangler jeans, wife beaters and leather jackets. Of course, their main trademark was the five bottles of grease they used in their hair daily. Greasers could be found doing anything that would get them in trouble. Acting out, smoking, vandalizing, beating and harassing people, and running were just some of the things they did for fun. According to Greaser Life.com, people believe that these boys and girls acted out because of their home lives. Most of the time, fat teens' parents weren't together or were never home because they were trying to make money. People believed that these troubled teens were acting out to get some sort of attention. Others disagree and say they were just teenagers trying to have fun. However, these were different types of grease fittings. There were the Oklahoma greasers, who took action and caused problems,...... middle of paper ...... it's the decade of the British Invasion. Some of the artists were: The Beadles, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Cream, The Yardbirds, Donoran, Manffred Man, The Kinks, Herman'sHermit, Tom Jones, Dusty Springfield and The Animals. Other musical inspirations were: BobDylan, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder and Buffalo Springfield. (1960s Music)The 1960s were an unforgettable decade. It was very controversial, but indeed, it was very successful. The 1960s were known for all the parties, drugs, music and culture, but the three main things people remembered were the gangs, fashion and music. A few other things that made this decade special were all the civil rights moments that happened, a war broke out, and more music was created in this decade than in any other. The 1960s will forever be remembered as one of the greatest decades.
