  • Essay / The Problems of Single Parenthood - 1298

In the trajectory of humanity, single parenthood has become an internationally accepted concept in most modern cultures. What exactly causes single parenthood? Well, there are many factors that can lead to a single parent family. Death of a partner, divorce and unwanted pregnancies are just some of the causes of single parenthood. Based on this global recognition and understanding, single parenthood is generally promoted through monetary assistance from the government or unions. Even if financial assistance is available, the psychological effects a child experiences can never be offset by any monetary value. These psychological traumas and mental changes could also affect the parent raising the child. Even with some financial assistance, single parents sometimes struggle to make ends meet. A study published in Time magazine informed Americans that middle- and lower-class single parents would work more than 40 hours a week at minimum wage to support their child. If the parent is so busy at work, who watches the child? Sometimes the single parent may still have ties to their own family. Grandmother and grandfather must raise the child since the parent works hard to provide for their offspring. Sometimes some of our elderly people do not have the skills to care for a child. It could even be that the child is too energetic and exhausts the elderly. The child will then resort to television, the street, friends, etc. to learn and grow. These influences can be negative for the child, especially if they do not come from the mother or father. A survey of single parenthood leads to the statement that raising a child alone is very difficult and must be approached with great indulgence and efficiency. Some...... middle of paper ......you will be equally surprised to discover that some of these children in class were never able to graduate due to impending problems in the household and their development psychological leading to mental trauma. A census study shows that most single-parent children start working at age 15 to help parents pay for basic necessities. Even though the odds are strong for single parents and children, we should never forget the strong parents who face the challenge with efficiency and stability. And of course, we must not forget the child who supported his single parent and developed his strength and character to help the family overcome all obstacles. Single parenthood is a fascinating concept that produces heroes and well-built people who were able to overcome the obstacles that presented themselves to them. But remember, some of these people didn't make it out either..
