There are many different views on this, and ultimately this is how it should be. Some Americans defend it, others oppose it. However, most Americans oppose it and argue that although a baby born to a teenage mother is harmful for medical reasons and therefore abortion is necessary, it is even more harmful to terminate the pregnancy because it is in fact the “death of the child”. an embryo or fetus” (Webster, 1). Furthermore, these same Americans believe that it is selfish to terminate the pregnancy in order to save money, even if it would result in neglect of the child or starvation because the teenage mother had no means of provide shelter or food.
