I am a twenty-year-old student of Biomedical Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Since I was very young, I was fully entertained by nature. I want to be a scientist because a scientist's work involves curiosity and imagination. I love the process of getting results, making connections between them, wondering about possible explanations, and continuing to explore and learn. I have always been interested in biology; I participated in an International Biology Olympiad in 2011, which led me to decide to pursue a career in science. Training for the Olympiad clicked my mind to focus on all the incredible molecular mechanisms inside a cell, and I chose biomedical research to understand how Cells work in such a coordinated manner to perform all functions of the body. I dreamed of being able to understand the DNA mutations that lead to diseases, but my first laboratory experience brought me a lot of knowledge and quite a few new doubts that science could not clarify.
