  • Essay / Success Definition Essay - 954

“Try not to become a successful man, but rather try to become a man of value”, this is how Albert Einstein defined success, so is- What does success really mean? Over time, people in society have developed the idea that celebrities and wealthy people are a true representation of success. But what really defines a successful person? Merriam Webster states that success is a “favorable or desired result; also: obtaining wealth, favor or eminence. Although most people admire this definition, success should actually be defined as: it can only be achieved after witnessing failure and is not the same for every individual, which encourages various definitions , and how success is achieved through a journey full of obstacles, difficult to achieve. .You don't fully understand the feeling of success until you witness failure. The success shown on television shows ideal success, and people think it is very easy to achieve this goal. However, the legitimate feeling of success is only truly accepted when one fails to achieve one's goal and then works twice as hard to achieve that goal. I can say from my own experience that this is true when I failed to obtain my license. Even though I had practiced for weeks with my parents, it still wasn't enough. When it came time for my second try, I practiced every day for thirty minutes for two weeks and finally passed, I was thrilled even though it wasn't my driving test. It made me realize that failure helps you understand that you need to work even harder to achieve the success you desire and makes you feel accomplished. Another example that presents this idea is how Martin Luther King Jr. struggled to achieve his success. Dr. King was a leader in African American civil rights ... middle of paper ... his success. She got up and realized that she had to continue her studies, so as not to have a life like that of her family; it helped her succeed. Not only did she arrive at Princeton as a Hispanic, but she was so determined that she became a high-ranking Supreme Court justice, which was her childhood dream. Many other examples can be presented showing that success is a path and not just achieving the goal itself. Success cannot be summed up in a single definition as it was on Merriam Webster, because success has a more complex and complex meaning that is dependent on age, values, lifestyle and points of view. The definition of success is immeasurable and can mean something completely different to everyone. In conclusion, our society which has been exposed to a solid definition should realize that people can achieve success in a personal and distinct way..
