Essay / Analyzing Personal Dreams Through Activation...
We spend six years of our lives in sleep and many of us don't think about what happens during sleep. Everyone has had more than a few dreams while sleeping, because, whether you know it or not, everyone dreams while sleeping. Based on the theory of the Activation Information Mode Model, dreams are random neurological triggers that have no particular meaning. The reason dreams seem so real and personal is because they are based on recent memories located in the brainstem. Even though dreams don't make sense, our brains try to make connections. Through the Information Activation Mode model, people are able to analyze their personal dreams. Dream Theory In 1977, American psychiatrists and dream researchers Allan Hobson and Robert McCarley developed the Activation Information Mode (AIM) model. The goal of this model is to connect the brain to the mind and consciousness. The model shows differences in neurological activity during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep and waking. The model uses activation, an input source and modulation to map the origin of your dreams. Activation is measured by brain activity, the input source coming from internal and external images, and modulation is the firing of neurons. Proponents of the AIM theory believe that dreams are neurological messages from recent memories. The lower brain contains memories with stored emotions and the upper brain synthesizes recent experiences into dreams. This theory is valid because it uses brain activity and scientific observations to determine what stage of sleep you are in and where your dreams are coming from. The reason I agree with the AIM dream theory is that it uses facts and observations to develop a logical reason. why dreams happen in the middle of a paper......to die. At school, in the student council, I was planning a talent show and was stressed before falling asleep. Scyan is my best friend and we fought three hours before I went to bed, so it's no surprise that she ended my dream. ConclusionAll the dreams have all been made up of recent memories and experiences that I have had over the past few days. Although dreams may seem important and personal to us, this only seems so because they are made up of recent memories and felt emotions. Other than that, dreams have no meaning. The AIM model is a way to connect dreams in REM to the moment we are conscious. In doing this analysis, I learned that although we want dreams to have meaning, they are just neurological arousals that arise from recent experiences. This model is a good way to determine how your brain makes connections between wakefulness and sleep..
