Essay / Positive influence of violence in video games - 824
As many parents and educators like to point out, “violent video games make children more violent.” Video games affecting young people are a very controversial subject. Most people come to this conclusion without any evidence or reason, but there are some reasons why this assumption is wrong. I believe that violent video games are actually good for people. They allow them to escape from real life, which is positive, violence allows people (young people in particular) to think morally about what they do and most violent games allow children to have fun with their friends. Violent video games are good. because they can allow people to escape from their real lives. Video games, especially violent games, can allow people to do things they could never do in real life without getting into trouble or getting hurt. Violent games can even allow a person to “become” someone they could never be. For example, a superhero, soldier, or anyone who is generally more athletic and better at fighting than them. Living in a strict, organized world 24/7 can get boring and cause stress. These games allow people to have fun, enjoy freedom or even let out the violence accumulated in the game, which is ultimately harmless to anyone. This is all good in moderation, and some people can't discern that what they're doing isn't real, so they think it's appropriate to actually do it. Some children may be depressed, which allows them to think differently and thus absorb the violence of the play that leads them to act it out. Under appropriate circumstances, violent games allow children to become someone else, with the capacity to be violent, without hurting anyone. Doing this is better than venting anger in the real world, but children need...... middle of paper ...... to know the effects it can have in the world in which they play. But when it comes down to it, it's really just a game that kids can have fun playing with friends. These games are okay, but like any game, they should not be a person's sole focus, as this could cause real damage, such as addiction. Children just need to be able to tell what a violent game is; just a game to be played purely for fun and not to be taken seriously. To undo all of this, parents need to decide whether their child can play a violent game, and they also need to know their child's maturity level. If violence moves beyond child play and into real life, it is simply bad parenting. Maybe you should try a violent game to find out how it affects you. You may not like violence at all, but it can be fun to play and in a way... good for you..
