With such an increase in violence in movies and an increase in crime, it would be understandable to connect the two. Along with media reports claiming a murder or shooter was arrested and found violent content in their room or home, many would believe the reporter and blame the content for their actions. However, to fully understand and have the evidence to demonstrate why shooting or killing occurs, a study must take place with enough evidence to support or prove that a theory is correct. A study was created and its results were not what many would believe. Whether people claim that violent behavior is due to violent films, there is not enough evidence to say that such a link is true in the United States (Markey, PM, French, JE, & Markey, CN, 2015). Another study was conducted to see if violence in movies or television had any effect on audience behavior. Although limited exposure to actual violence appears to have some developmental benefits in the form of greater empathy, experiencing higher levels of actual violence is linked to maladaptive outcomes, including trauma symptoms higher, flight to fantasy and reduced empathy (Mrug, S., Madan, A., Cook, EW and Wright, RA.,
