Over the past decade, the topic of outsourcing has become a hotly debated topic as to whether it is ethically correct to outsource jobs to countries foreigners. Outsourcing has increasingly become an option for many businesses and not just an economic fad. The decision to outsource is a difficult decision for any business as it comes with many pros and cons to consider. The decision to outsource affects many people, communities and industries. Therefore, if a company decides to outsource, it must think about how it will affect human dignity, the common good of the economy and its subsidiaries. A common definition of outsourcing is to take a business and hand it over to another company to complete. The main industries that benefit from outsourcing are manufacturing, IT and, more recently, customer service. Outsourcing provides these companies with less expensive labor, because otherwise they would have to pay more for the same type of work here in the United States. The potential cost savings for these companies is the primary benefit of outsourcing, but is also a point of contention with opponents of outsourcing, as they argue that "is it worth losing jobs in the United States?" United and save money? ยป This raises the ethical question of whether outsourcing harms or promotes human dignity. These opponents argue that outsourcing is wrong because it results in job losses for many skilled and semi-skilled workers in the United States. In conclusion, the decision to outsource is a highly debated ethical topic because of who it affects. Outsourcing has valid disadvantages and advantages. Overall, outsourcing hurts more than it helps and the decision to outsource should only be used if it is entirely appropriate and simply not intended to reduce costs for a business..
