Many people believe that most of the world's human-caused climate is caused by the world's largest, most energy-consuming corporations, which between them have produced nearly two-thirds of greenhouse gas emissions. greenhouses generated since the beginning of the industrial era, new research suggests. Climate change experts said the dataset was the most ambitious effort yet to hold individual carbon producers, rather than governments, accountable. 90 companies on the list of top emitters produced 63% of the world's cumulative industrial carbon dioxide and methane emissions between 1751 and 2010, representing about 914 gigatons of CO2 emissions, according to the study. Of the 90, all but seven were energy companies producing oil, gas and coal. The other seven were cement manufacturers.
