Essay / The Rogerian style of argumentation - 602
One of the elements of Rogerian argumentation is cooperation. There will always be disagreements between people, especially within the United States government and among politicians, this is more evident than ever. If people could all agree to disagree and find common ground in which they all get some of what they want and some of what they don't want, life would be a lot better. easy. Unfortunately, there are people so stubborn that they sincerely believe that their way or their ideas are the only answer and will not budge an inch when their opponents offer them a compromise. The day our government leaders understand that compromise is an effective tool, we will all win. With a Rogerian argument, there is no clear winner or loser, because one seeks common ground for a starting point and, from there, finds a compromise. People need to realize that no one gets everything they want and that life really isn't fair. They will understand that compromise is the only way for everyone to benefit. However, we can all benefit by accepting that we can have some of what we want and some of what we don't want...
