How important was the role of gangsters in the 1930s? Most people would say they had no impact, or very little. But they would be wrong, gangsters played an important role in the 1930s, whether they were kidnapping someone, killing people or smuggling, every gangster had a role. Of these three men, Al Capone would probably be the most famous gangster who ever lived. . Almost everyone who has had a slight interest in gangsters or watched a lot of old movies has heard of him. Al Capone rose to fame by rising through the ranks within an already well-known gang and eventually took over. All the cops were paid to look the other way, he robbed banks and of course he killed people. He could have retained his hold on Chicago if he had not tried to expand his territory ( ). On February 14, 1929, seven North Side gangsters were waiting in an SMC Cartage Co. garage when two police officers burst into the garage and declared a raid. They line the seven men up against a wall while two ununiformed men enter the room and open fire on the wall.....
