    Statutory rape occurs when an adult has sex with a minor. In the United States, every two minutes, someone is sexually assaulted. There are also many cases of statutory rape, but how many of these statutory rape cases are legitimate? Some people claim that rape laws discriminate against men, and in some cases they do, simply because they are adults. Should the laws regarding statutory rape be changed based on the history of the case? Or should they continue in the same way, and continue to punish men when it may not be their fault, or they were cheated by the girl? Should we change the way these statutory rape cases are tried? In April, eleven marines were unjustly arrested for having separate sexual relations with the same thirteen-year-old. The eighth grader lied about her age and told the men she was nineteen. The marines only got involved with this kid because they thought he was an adult. They had no intention of harming a child, much less breaking the law.
