Coming into this semester, I knew I was going to take the Education Foundations course, but I didn't know what to expect. After 14 weeks of discussion, learning, and exploration, I realized that my passion for teaching had solidified. I have realized the reality and responsibility that comes with becoming a teacher and I am ready to take on the challenge. As future teachers, we have the power to impact the lives of our students in many ways. We learned that a teacher must behave like the professional that he or she is. At the end of this course, there are questions I asked myself that I would have answered completely differently during the first week of this course. One of the questions we face is what quality teaching looks like. It is very important to examine the way a teacher approaches the classroom. We know that the most important factor in a school environment is the teacher. (Professional PowerPoint) A teacher must be able to use the different teaching philosophies that we have learned during this semester. They can lead students to learn by doing. It's a pragmatic approach to things. Or they can integrate behaviorism into their classroom. Quality teachers set high expectations for students of all backgrounds. They must be very organized and prepared and, above all, they must know the subject they are teaching. A teacher must engage students and give them the chance to get up from their seats. Teachers need to create lessons for different students because all students work at a different pace. Some students may understand a certain lesson better than another and they should not be forced to continue working if they have already mastered it. The teacher should be able to provide all the answers... in the middle of the sheet... he should learn in a different approach to ensure that he receives the knowledge provided to his other classmates. these 14 weeks, I probably would have answered these questions differently. I didn't know the importance of the teacher and the responsibility we have. I probably would have put all the responsibility on the student and told them that if they want to learn, the onus is on them. This is not the right way to look at things and I am glad I took this course with Dr. Artis to understand the power of a teacher. I learned that we may not be able to change the world as a teacher, but we have the ability to change the lives of our students for many years to come. I hope to build on the knowledge I gained in this course with my future classes and become a teacher who can make big changes in my student's life.!
