I don't know where I would be without my best friend. The person who keeps me sane when my family is driving me crazy, or the person who will stay up with me all night to support me when I have a last minute assignment due in class; I don't know where I would be without this support. I found this support in my best friend, my sister from another father, Regina. Regina is an eccentric, bossy girl who loves everything natural. She lives life to the fullest and never backs down from challenges. She's funny, witty, and sharper than a bug fresh out of the box. Even though the road hasn't always been easy for us, we still remain friends today. Regina and I were neighbors for several years and in that time our friendship grew stronger and it seemed like nothing could break it. It was our aging and our need to explore that slowly began the crack in our friendship. We began to disagree on topics that we agreed on when we first met. I would find myself seeking companionship from other friends instead of relying on their support; and it was starting to wear out. It was when we returned home that we really started to give up and greatly changed our relationship into something I couldn't recognize. When I began to understand the flaws in our relationship, I knew it was time to act. As I focused on the National Communication Association's spectrum of struggles, I noticed that we repeatedly climbed the ladder of struggle and fell off the edge only to start again. My younger, less educated version of myself would never have seen the problems, but now, after years of college and my Interpersonal Communications class, I could see what needed to be done. I am... middle of paper ...... has changed me for the better and I know now that Regina is ready to complete this journey with me. “The friends who listen to us are the ones we move. towards, and we want to sit in their radius” (Karl Meninger). I am very pleased with the outcome of this challenge and am looking forward to what comes next. I am constantly reminded of the deep meaning of my friendship with Regina and what we have experienced over the past 11 years of all the moments we shared, the arguments we had, and the time spent apart. I appreciate that nothing, absolutely nothing, is more uplifting and inspiring than enduring life's challenges with someone who knows you like the back of their hand. “It was by chance that we met, by choice that we became friends, Henri Nouwen.
