During the 19th century, industrialization flourished. Inventions were created that benefited many people and influenced many ideas. Progress has been made in the electrical industry, manufacturing industry and clothing industry. The invention of blue jeans during this century had multiple benefits. The invention of blue jeans was important because they helped miners, introduced durable pants, and inspired and changed future fashion. To begin with, blue jeans greatly helped and protected the miners. In the mid-1800s, the California Gold Rush began. People from all over the world came to California in hopes of finding gold and wealth. Many of them became miners because it was the only way to get gold. Searching for gold was a difficult task. This involved a lot of manual labor. The men would have picks and shovels. They would have to break rocks and go deep into caves. This work would also involve a lot of digging. Due to all the extreme manual labor, the clothes would fall apart easily. It was difficult for workers to find clothing that could withstand these harsh conditions. Levi Strauss arrived in America in 1853 and opened his own store to supply miners with basic necessities. Having heard of the need for more durable pants, Strauss took it upon himself to create pants that met the needs of miners. He took brown canvas from a tent and created pants. These waist-length suits, as they were often called, were sturdy enough, but were not comfortable. Strauss then moved on to denim. He had found clothing that was comfortable and suitable for miners and other hard workers. They were almost perfect. Second, the invention of waist dungarees inspired Jacob Davis to make these pants even more durable. Although denim......middle of paper......was first introduced and often worn by artists in the 1970s. This is also the time when designer jeans were invented. “At that point, there didn’t seem to be any clothing needs that a pair of jeans didn’t solve.” Jeans are a very common trend worn by people all over the world. It is very common for the same person to own several pairs of jeans. Jeans have had a huge influence on today's society. In conclusion, the invention of blue jeans was important in helping miners, marking the idea of sturdy pants and changing the global fashion industry. Blue denim jeans solved the problems miners had with their clothing. Rivets helped hold clothing together better, which ultimately gave rise to the idea of more durable jeans. These durable denim jeans have changed over the years and have significantly transformed fashion all over the world. Overall, jeans were an important and inspiring invention.
