Should a child be allowed to receive education despite their legal status? Three years ago, I witnessed an incident where a child was refused access to a local school because he did not attend. have the relevant document needed at the school for registration. Many dreamed of leaving their native country and seeking asylum in other countries so that their children could benefit from adequate schooling that they could neither acquire nor provide. As a result, many children are forced to emigrate to other countries with their parents, not by choice but because their parents are forced to. We cannot blame or penalize a young child who had no decision about what his parents did when coming to a country. A child should not have to pay the consequences for an act they did not commit. The right of admission to education, the right to quality education and the right to respect in the learning environment should be granted to a child as soon as he or she is able and willing to learn.
