    Although education should ideally be independent of race or class, this is an unreal expectation. Race, class, and income are all interconnected, and socioeconomic status can be affected. Your social class generally depends on your income, and that income predicts where you will live. Where you live predicts where you will go to school and schools in poor neighborhoods have fewer resources, subpar teachers, outdated textbooks, etc. The United States offers the American dream, but that dream must be a goal that everyone can achieve. Education is the foundation that affects people for the rest of their lives. Although the gender gap is debatable in our society, when it comes to academic achievement, race and class matter much more. Schools from lower social classes tend to emphasize the beneficial outcomes expected from higher education more than students from higher social classes. . Students from lower social classes tend to take their studies and schooling more seriously because they believe it will bring them better jobs and career opportunities. They also believe that with improved income and job security comes improved income. Although some students, from lower grades, tend to focus more on school, this can easily be challenged. Social class is a major determining factor in individuals’ life chances. Research shows that parents in higher grades are more involved in their students' educational journey. Students with involved parents tend to earn higher grades and test scores, attend school regularly, enroll in high-ranking programs, graduate, and pursue postsecondary education. Educational inequality is one of the factors that perpetuates the class division between generations. Because members of higher social classes tend to be more educated, due to their diverse resources, they have higher incomes and are more likely to provide educational benefits, not only to themselves, but also to their children. Education is a major component of today's class society. While researching this topic, I already knew the answer, but I was still very interested in learning more. My hometown isn't the best and looking at my graduating class, only three quarters of my class went to college. It's still a good number but I know people who didn't continue their studies and these people have so much potential but they really have to want to pursue higher education...
