Our life is faced with many people facing challenges that they are forced to face. The trials we have caused by our decisions and the way we deal with them. However, was there a way to avoid these challenges? Did a choice or decision cause repercussions? In our lives, we don't see these choices when they happen. In the moment, we think we're making a decision that will help us in the long run, but what we think doesn't always turn out to be reality. People who make the decision to have a baby think about all the good that comes with the little human. Babies are amazing, but they're not angles. They need food, diaper changes and just plain comfort. When their baby arrives and the crying starts, they realize that a baby is tougher than they think. Our choices have consequences and we cannot make the consequences good or bad. They are what they are, but when trials arise, we can see examples that lead to the decision being made. At some point in our lives, we will have to make another choice, that of helping someone else in need. IF we help these people, one day we might receive help when we need it. In The Life you Save May Be Your Own, by Flannery O'Connor, he shows how three people, Mrs. Crater, Lucynell, and Mr. Shiftlet, make a decision and create the final image of what we see. Crater is all alone because she had the destiny to save her daughter's life as O'Connor writes. Mrs. Crater was an old lady who had a daughter. As she got older, the idea that her daughter would have nothing and wouldn't be able to function on her own scared her. She loved her daughter. Lucynell was Crater's life, but a daunting thought occurred to him. Lucynell needed someone who could take care of her once Mrs. Crater was gone. “This... middle of paper... it can change our lives. All three characters in the story were destined to end up the same way they treated others. Mrs. Carter had control over her daughter and did not ask her what she wanted. So she was destined to find herself alone and lose the fate of the only thing she wanted to control. Lucynell was perfect. She was an innocent person and had no flaws, but she was not perfect. Her innocents created a destiny that would lead her to someone who would see her innocence and appreciate everything she was worth. Mr. Shiftlet was someone who would get what he wanted. He didn't care how he would get it. In the end, he was destined to realize everything he had done wrong. He wanted it erased, but it was too late. He was destined to be alone because of all his mistakes. How will your story end? Have you helped someone and did they help you in return? It's your decision.
