Essay / Albanian teenagers - 518
Depending on the respective culture, the life of a teenager can vary greatly. Some cultures demand more of their adolescents in terms of family obligations than other cultures. For example, the typical social life of a teenager whose heritage is linked to Northern Albania requires that he honor his family's wishes above all else. The obligations and respect that an Albanian teenager shows towards his family are very important, and it is what keeps the family connected to each other and forms a bond that no one can break. Being an Albanian teenager myself and growing up in northern Albania, I have acquired the knowledge to know the exact demands that the parent places on the child and the obligations that the child is expected to fulfill. The first rule is “The parent is always right”. No matter the situation, you must always listen and obey. I think this rule is very fair, because the child knows nothing, and he must now trust what his mind says but what his parents say. In addition, with this rule, the child understands that the only person he can listen to and know that he is right is the parent. This makes the parent-child bond much stronger. The society surrounding Albanian children also had a great impact on you, because if you did not follow the rules of society, you would be considered a very "bad" person, and everyone I would point out to you something that you have done. There were also cases where the adolescent was estranged from the family and the village. For example, the most important requirement that an Albanian girl must fulfill is not to date or have sex with anyone except her husband after she gets married. You are expected to do this, and if you don't, you would be considered the lowest person of all and you would not find a man to marry you. In addition, it is your family that chooses your husband, except in certain cases where you had no choice regarding your partner. If you choose him, he must be Albanian and definitely of the same religion. For boys, it's more different, because they have more choices and they don't have as many limits as girls. It seems that everything seems so brutal and unfair to the Albanians.
