Essay / The Negative Aspects of Technology - 1129
In today's society, humanity is becoming overly dependent on technology, as it takes over the minds of many individuals; it completely changes life as we know it. People rely too much on technological devices for simple everyday tasks. Because of technology, we have forgotten how to live. Children no longer play outside; they do not have the ability to use their imagination. It is also proven that too much technology, particularly video games, or violent cartoons can cause behavioral problems in your child. Technology has made many aspects of life much easier. However, society revolves around flashing computer screens and other technology sources like smartphones and tablets. For example, when dating, many people all over the world have had failed relationships and almost given up, leading them to turn to the Internet to find a partner. Today, it is inconceivable to go even 24 hours without access to the Internet. The features of the Internet are great and endless, but it also has a great impact on society with a lot of negativity. There is an extremely high percentage of young children who receive these devices from their parents, which has a huge impact on their lifestyle. They don't even have the willpower to take their eyes off a screen long enough to go outside, not even for a second. Technology is said to be a growing cause of obesity. “In the United States, where investment in communications technology is the highest in the world, the result is an obesity rate that, at 34%, is also the highest in the world. » (Healy). RUN-ON: Growing up we didn't have today's latest technology, we only knew how to go out and play until dark and come into the house covered in ...... middle of paper...... life changing as we know it, and people rely too much on technological devices for simple daily tasks. Modern technology brings us great benefits, but misuse can also lead to many negative results. The more technology advances, the more it seems to control our lives. As technology advances, the human mind diminishes. Works Cited Atwood, Joan D. and Conchetta Gallo. The effects of the Internet on social relationships: therapeutic considerations.
