  • Essay / Time Traveler: A Fictional Story - 1544

Time TravelerWho knew time travel was possible? I didn't, not until I found my father's suitcase. It was a cold day in Los Angeles, my mother and I were cleaning out the garage, piling up all of my father's old things. It would have been easier to deal with his death if he hadn't died a year ago. No one knew about his death or anything, that's why there was no news about it until now. I kept thinking "man, I've only talked to him twice in my life and now he's gone forever. I wish I could see him one more time." As I started to space out, my mom yelled "stop spacing me out and help me with these boxes man!" Panicked, “Okay, okay!” She lets out a huge sigh and takes out a black suitcase. "Hm, I've never seen this suitcase before." It was a regular suitcase with a keyboard on the side. "Can I keep this mom? She looks cool." I asked. “Help me clean up first dude.” she said, throwing the suitcase at me. It was lighter than I thought, the suitcase seemed empty as if there was nothing in it except a few papers. Little did I know that the item inside would forever change the way I view history. After a delicious beef curry dinner prepared by my mother, I rush to my room to check the suitcase. I excitedly say to myself, “let’s find out what’s great here.” I guarantee no one expected the item in the box to be a regular pair of glasses. "Glasses? Really? A big suitcase with a code to keep a pair of glasses." I was disappointed but I wasn't ready to give up hope for something cool. I recently watched this show called "Chuck" on Netflix, so I thought it might be secret spy glasses for something. I looked at everything, but it looks like a regular pair of glasses... middle of paper ...... tographic dry plates for photographers. In 1885, Eastman introduced the first transparent photographic film. # years later, the Kodak camera was born and revolutionized the entire camera industry. Anyone can take a photo and turn it into a photo. The Kodak camera was affordable and good for carrying. After helping Eastman build the machine for mass production, I returned home. Sitting on my bed, I think about all the historical events I visited with the time machine. It was a crazy experience that helped me understand the story better and made it fun. What better way to learn about the past than to travel back in time? This time I will keep travel glasses for my children and grandchildren. I'll find a better, more high-tech container to put it in. I'll do something amazing so my kids and grandkids can experience the cool things I did when I was their age..
