Western imperialism in the 1800s and early 1900s had positive, negative and lasting effects in countries like India, South Asian regions Southeast and Africa. There have been many social, economic and political changes. For example, in Hawaii, sugar cane crops were abundant and the United States sought to make money by occupying Hawaii. This was beneficial for businessmen as they received large amounts of money. However, local people were deeply opposed to the sale of their crops. Throughout the imperialism of the 1800s and early 1900s, many other countries and regions, such as India, regions of Southeast Asia, and Africa, faced difficulties while the imperialists raced for greater control. Western imperialism has been a positive change in the world. the 1800s and early 1900s due to the end of internal conflicts, improved infrastructure, education and health in Africa, India and French Indochina. Under British rule of India, or Raj, the country's internal conflicts ended. Before the British occupations, ethnic and religious groups fought against each other due to a bitter rivalry that developed over time. However, under the Raj, laws were enforced to reduce violence, so conflicts gradually diminished. Second, in French Indochina, the region's infrastructure has improved significantly. There has been the development of roads, ports and railway systems which have improved communication and transportation of citizens. This was in addition to British efforts to modernize India using methods of imperialization. Third, in French Indochina, education, health and sanitation were improved. As a result, economies faced problems and poverty hit people.
