Essay / Happiness Happiness View - 2379
I don't really enjoy what I'm doing now unless I have something to look forward to in the future. For example, if I'm fishing and I know I don't have any work to do the rest of the day or I'm planning something fun later in the day, my happiness upon finishing increases significantly. When that happens, I'm able to have more fun and be more engaged in what I'm actually doing. That being said, just as Seneca and Tatarkiewicz argue, the present passes so quickly that you often don't realize how good it is until it is gone. I remember what happened and what happened. For example, when I returned from my trip to Costa Rica this summer, I found myself upset that it was over and wishing I could go back. I should have taken the trip longer while I was there and realized how awesome it was instead of thinking about seeing all my friends again when I got home. It's something I think I need to work on as a person. I need to live more in the moment and really live my direct experiences. Overall, I believe that happiness is truly life satisfaction and is not just about how you feel right now, but also how you feel about your past, present and life.
