    Decline in Test ScoresDid you know that the United States is not as advanced as other countries? Fifty-seven percent of graduating seniors are not ready to transition to college courses. The United States was once one of the most advanced countries in the world. What happened? I believe that declining academic achievement in the United States affects our ability to compete globally because we are not as intelligent as students in other countries. I think if we tried to understand how each person learns and place them in classes based on their learning style, they would be more successful. In China, students start school at seven thirty every morning and don't finish until five o'clock. At 1 p.m., however, they have a two-hour lunch break. They also go to school for ten and a half months, not just nine. They spend their summer vacations at summer schools or studying for entrance exams. In China, some courses are taught through exercises, meaning that students learn the basics of a subject repeatedly until they are able to demonstrate their understanding.
