The chosen careers to analyze are Event Manager and Theater Producer, both of which will be considered as future career options. To do this, the case study will focus on the responsibilities of practitioners in these careers, the opportunities and challenges they may face, the skills and abilities they need, the connections that exist between the careers and my own case study profile, as well as the steps I should take to advance my career aspirations. 2.0 Career Descriptions The first of the two careers analyzed is that of event manager, sometimes also called event organizer or event planner. Prospects UK (2012) describes event managers as those who are responsible for producing an event from conception to completion. This may include the initial planning and organization of the event, the development of a management plan to assist in preparation (Gascoyne Development Commission, nd) and the coordination of all aspects of the event on the day of its outfit (Prospects UK 2012). ). This career was chosen because I feel I enjoy the creative aspects of planning my own unique, memorable and enjoyable events. The second of the two careers analyzed is that of theater producer, sometimes also called production manager or theater director. Having studied the responsibilities and skills of practitioners in these careers, the opportunities and challenges they may face, and the steps I should take to help realize these career aspirations, it is clear that there are both similarities and differences between the chosen career options. We also see that there are strong links between careers and my personal profile as a practitioner. While there are in fact key differences between the careers, success in either career will depend on learning similar skills, facing similar challenges, and implementing similar strategies for building a successful career..
