Concentration is a process that guides you to gain the deepest awareness and understanding of your experience by consciously paying attention to bodily sensations. It is based on existentialism and phenomenology. I integrate the attitude and process of concentration into my clinical work. This approach is highly complementary to various interventions beyond the humanistic approach, such as psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral and short-term counseling as well as long-term psychotherapy. Fortunately, the staff at my internship site are very open to my theoretical orientation. They encourage integrating my past training with different approaches such as CBT, DBT and motivational interviewing. I appreciate that they push me to expand my clinical skills and theoretical orientation without asking me to abandon my preferred choice.
