Finding Forrester SummaryFinding Forrester is a film about discovering yourself and your talents, no matter what others think and/or do. Jamal is a 16-year-old boy who attends a public high school, gets average grades and is excellent on the field. He lives his whole life believing these things until he receives the divine results on his standardized writing test. These convincing scores change his whole life. Then he meets William Forrester, an adept and miracle author who has been hiding in his apartment since the success of his book. Seeing that it's free thanks to his scores, everyone pushes him to go, thinking it's a good way to focus on writing and basketball, Jamal accepts not knowing what's going on. 'wait. Thus begins a long and arduous journey for Jamal. Recently, his friends convinced him to break into William Forrester's house to see why the old man was watching them, convinced he had a murderous plan. Jamal is caught and accidentally leaves his precious notebooks in the apartment. Forrester reads the notebooks and reviews them. Jamal returns expecting more and although at first Forrester has an attitude that makes him formidable, Jamal still returns amazed at this stranger's ingenious talent. Jamal struggles to fit in at his new school and team, but finds it impossible. On top of that, his writings always seem to fall short of what the outsider expects. He then realizes who the stranger is and is more disconcerted than ever. He has thousands of questions to ask the old author, but Forrester remains silent and refuses to answer anything personal about himself. At school, Jamal has a teacher who doesn't give up. Professor Crawford has never seen a student start with average writing and then suddenly have the most eloquent writing they have ever heard. This makes him unhappy and he keeps an eye on Jamal. On the basketball team, the team's former best player, John Hartwell, gives Jamal a hard time. The disdainful tension is strong and soon leads to a fight that the coach settles with a competition. Both players make fifty shots in a row and while everyone is elated, Hartwell is bitter and tells Jamal that no matter what anyone else thinks, they will never be the same, Hartwell will always be better. Things slowly start to escalate from this point. Jamal met a beautiful girl named Claire Sprouse. She shows him around the school and the two quickly become friends. It's obvious they have chemistry and care about each other a lot, but her father steps in so Jamal can't be with her. His father sees him as a poor kid who has nothing to offer school or his daughter besides basketball. Jamal notices it in Claire's father and begins to notice it all around him. This shakes his confidence. Not only is his new life difficult to integrate, but his old life also begins to dissolve before his eyes. He used to think he could mix his two lives, but his friends made that impossible. They started rejecting him and ignoring him when he comes. They believe that Jamal thinks he is too good for them.
