  • Essay / Tim - 757

The 1960s were the years when many films were released that paved the way for today's films. These are the movies that Tim Burton watched growing up. Tim Burton was born on August 25, 1958 in Burbank, California. He grew up watching scary and scary movies in his free time. He was first famous for being an animator and eventually rose to a better position as a director. He is now famous for directing films such as: Edward Scissor Hands, Corpse Bride, Dark Shadows, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland. He became a director because he wanted to make films similar to the ones he watched as a child. Its style can be described as Gothic. Tim Burton has more opportunities as a director than as an author to show his gothic mood. Each film he creates has a different style that you won't be able to see anywhere else, so you should go out and see at least one today. I recommend it. This is something that makes Burton's films great; he uses specific cinematic techniques such as low-key techniques and flashbacks, which flood every scene with a never-before-seen gothic ambiance. One of the elements that contributes to Tim Burton's gothic style is low-key lighting. Tim uses low-key lighting to flood a scene with darkness and gloomy ambiance. For example, in the 1990 film Edward Scissor Hands, there is a scene where Peg enters the dark mansion where Edwards lives. The building is located on a sharp and dark mountain. The interior of Edwards' house is shrouded in darkness, as if it had been abandoned. Peg climbs a flight of stairs to a room at the top of the building, where Edward hides in a dark corner. In this scene, Burton uses low key lighting in order to portray Edward as evil so that the audience will think that Edward will be a... middle of paper ... like they are. By showing flashbacks of the main character's past, it shows that Burton hopes to make people think about getting to know someone before judging them. This is a great lesson found in almost all of Tim Burton's films, which is another reason why I recommend Burton's films. In conclusion, Tim Burton's style is gothic and strange. He uses low key lighting and even flashbacks to his advantage to create a gothic and sinister ambiance in each scene. People who watch his films are often amazed by the new and different ideas constant in each scene. Tim Burton is certainly an extraordinary filmmaker. So if you go to see a movie this weekend and see Tim Burton's name listed under director, pick that one up, or just go to your local movie store and pick one up. Anyway, I recommend you go see one of his films soon.!
