The Great Depression affected millions of people. No one could escape its gravity. He took hold of America and refused to let go. Some of America's most influential men have tried to shed some of its roughness, but to no avail. America was plunged into an economic crisis that would cost billions of dollars and many lives. The Great Depression was a time of great economic struggle for America, and although other attempts were made, the real cause of its end was America's entry into World War II. The Great Depression was a time of little hope for the United States. It affected all kinds of people, from farmers to the average businessman. It all started on what we call “Black Tuesday”. October 29, 1929 was one of the most significant days in the history of the American economy. Buying on margin was a trend developed in the late twenties, when American citizens could not afford to invest in stocks, but still saw reward in purchasing them. Through margin purchases, $8.5 billion was loaned to the American people, more than the amount of money in circulation. 16 million shares were traded on Black Tuesday and the stock market completely collapsed. Large business owners and wealthy investors attempted to resolve the dilemma by buying large shares of stocks, but the market officially collapsed and the American people lost $14 billion in a single day and that value n It only increased until November 13, when the market peaked. its lowest level (Nishi, 2001). As the Great Depression deepened, America needed a new leader. They needed someone who would guide them toward a path of renewal and relief.
