The marketing industry has evolved exponentially. Since the late 20th century, when advertisers were limited by medium and demographics, this industry has come a long way. This spectacular development was triggered by the Internet. The Internet reaches and touches every aspect of our lives and brings with it a host of new color-rich graphic advertisements and catchy phrases. All this digital marketing madness is mainly controlled by two IT giants, Google and Facebook. In this article, we discuss marketing strategies, services and the ongoing battle between these two giants who have taken over the world of radio and television advertising and generated billions of dollars in the process. Google and Facebook both started without any advertising services. While Google was primarily a search engine, Facebook presented itself as an interesting alternative to social networks. As both grew in size and popularity, they rolled out their marketing mats and invited advertisers.
