Essay / The Effects of Homelessness - 1724
City commissions and federal courts should lift the ban on homelessness and instead advocate for affordable housing. The federal government should set aside funds for housing and centralize the homeless. Subsequently, health service providers will be able to reach homeless people with much ease and track medication adherence by homeless people. HCH will also be able to manage the use of health services by homeless people and thus save costs incurred while providing health services to homeless individuals and families dispersed in different public spaces. Additionally, the housing plan will ensure that the criminal justice system is not burdened with prosecutions of innocent homeless people. It would also reduce prison overcrowding. Most importantly, the ban does not provide long-term solutions for homeless individuals and residents. Therefore, homeless people should not be barred from public places unless shelter is provided. Providing a facility for the homeless will ensure the effective implementation of community health programs, as well as the sustainability of the population.
