  • Essay / Internship Reflection Paper - 702

One aspect that I really didn't like was that the silences made me really nervous and led me to ask closed questions. Even though I had written the questions I was supposed to ask beforehand as open-ended questions when I asked them, I asked them as closed-ended questions. This led to him being able to answer my questions in one word, which led to more silence. However, I was able to rephrase my questions and request more information when needed. At the end of the session, I made sure to thank him for his participation (what little he did), because I could tell it was difficult for him. Although I was very nervous about working with a child, everything went well and I felt like I was receiving new information from him. Another aspect of the internship that I enjoyed this week was that I was able to complete online drug testing training and was able to receive a certificate. I will be able to put this on my CV and be able to use it in my future career. I will also be able to administer drug tests to clients when needed. I actually really enjoyed doing the tests and found it really fun at a slow pace.
