Mathematics is the universal language, coded at the molecular level. For this reason, the very understanding of this topic allows us to better understand how we, as humans, fit into the larger universal framework. This universal language is taken for granted by most people because they fail to see how mathematics interconnects, not only in their daily lives, but also how it interconnects the atoms and atomic structures that literally make up everything in their daily life. As part of the university curriculum, we are taught to use the process of "creative thinking", a fundamental educational aspect that students learn to use. This process aims to develop students' understanding of the problem they are facing and provide varied solutions to the problem, rather than the standard cookie-cutter solutions commonly offered. Michael Scriven and Richard Paul provided a definition of this critical thinking at the 8th Annual International Conference on Critical Thinking and Educational Reform, in the summer of 1987 for the Foundation for Critical Thinking. They defined it as the "disciplined intellectual process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and/or evaluating information gathered from or generated through observation, experience, reflection, reasoning or communication” (criticalthinking.org). which is overlooked by the majority of students when it comes to how mathematics is used. Many seem to view mathematics as nothing more than a series of numbers and formulas that they must learn in order to pass a particular requirement for their college degree. They rarely, if ever, stop to think about the importance of math and how it actually affects them and the people around them. This is...... middle of document...... allowing beneficial drugs like antibiotics to be widely used more quickly than waiting decades for research and development to complete, then even longer for clinical trials to be completed and finally even longer for the drug to be approved by the FDA. When it comes to antibiotics, this is crucial because bacteria mutate much faster than the ability of medical professionals and researchers to make antibiotics to counter them without the help of these mathematical models like Professor Swigons' ODE model . So the reality is that mathematics is to blame. to save countless lives through its direct and indirect application, as well as to constantly enrich and improve people's lives through its use. By having a better understanding of its function and how it affects each of us, it shows how dependent and interconnected we are with mathematics..
