Essay / The layout of Manchester - 1110
The city of Manchester is built in which: the rich and the poor are separated. The rich or sometimes called "bourgeoisie" are allowed to live their lives without coming into contact with workers. There are unspoken rules that working-class neighborhoods are separated from the middle class or the wealthy. The commercial district is in the center of Manchester and includes offices and warehouses. The poor live behind the mall and their homes are in an environment that is bad for their health, as evidenced by the fact that they have dirty water from Irk. There, the houses are covered with earth, you can see the broken windows and there is also a foul smell. On the other hand, the rich live "in isolated villas with gardens, in the open and healthy air of the countryside, in beautiful and comfortable houses." Vocabulary Describing Living Conditions Friedrich Engels discovered the living conditions of a working class in England in 1844. He described Manchester as unpleasant when he visited the area. He pointed out that if a person passes on the main street, he finds himself in disgusting filth (p. 2, paragraph 3). He also states that the courts are very dirty and that "residents can enter and exit the court through foul-smelling pools of stagnant urine and feces" (p. 3, paragraph 1). Engels states that below the Ducie Bridge, “there are several tanneries which fill the whole neighborhood with the stench of animal putrefaction (p. 3, paragraph 1). He also adds "In dry weather a long chain of the most disgusting dull green viscous pools remains standing on this bank, from the depths of which bubbles of miasmatic gas constantly arise" (p. 3, paragraph 2). He illustrates: “Under the bridge, you look at the pile... middle of paper... students and if they're college graduates, they're unemployed. Our economy is not doing well and there are a lot of layoffs in many companies. So how can these people find work if the economy is not doing well? How could they help themselves? For me, I believe it is the government that is responsible for not using our country's budget wisely. For example, they used a lot of money in the war against Iraq, causing budget deficits. As a result, many individuals and families are affected and suffering. The government should think carefully about ways to improve our economy, such as raising taxes on the rich. They should also think carefully about which projects to cut that would allow fewer people to suffer. If the economy improves immediately, we will avoid layoffs and more jobs will be available. More jobs means more opportunities to help the homeless.
